Step-Mum's father

Article about: Hi guys, My step mum - Carol, is currently researching her fathers wartime service, and has sent me a photograph of him. It looks like he was in the Royal Artillery, and would I be right in

    Not necessarily, ... A full name and possible regiment, with date of birth would help in an initial MOD search.

    It shouldn't be too difficult. We know he was Royal Artillery. If you know where he was living before the war. This will give easily give the TA RA unit your father started his service with. As the TA units are identifiable. A look at that units war record should show if he stayed with that unit throughout his service, as the locations will match. If he moved Artillery Regiments then that's more difficult. Post his location and I'm sure there's enough info out there for us to help you. Mike
