A Tribute to Marlene Dietrich

I tought of posting this because this is a matter that is not mentioned oftenly here in the forum, and this great actress deserves a lot of attention.
I decided to start the thread in the allies section, in spite being german, she was a strong anti-nazi supporter.
This amazing woman sang one of the most famous songs of the period (LiliMarleen). This song was very dear to all the soldiers from both sides of the conflict.
I was very sad not to be able to put some flowers on her grave, when i was in Berlin.
To all those planning to visit Berlin, if you have the time, please visit her grave, because she deserves it.
She is buried in Berlin-Schoneberg.

She meant a lot to me, my late grandfather loved listening to her singing and named my mother after her, Marlene. I would love to be able to go and see the grave site and pay my respects.

She will always be remembered for being the only person to have a "marching song", (Lili-Marlene), that was popular with BOTH the Allies and the Axis forces.

I think you'll find the war time singer of the song was one Lale Andersen. Became the anthem of DAK and 8th Army. The song was written in ww1 i believe, by a man.

I believe that you're right on that, BUT, its the song that everyone always puts with Marlene Dietrich.

Great song and one of the beautiful women of that time. I'm sure many a lonely young man dreamed of his girl back home listening to that voice.
