Hi Trevor, that does not surprise me. The VW "IT" was a post war inspired version of the Kublewagen.

    Cheers, Ade.

I know the German army was rounded up and deported after the war ended, and I assume they left all their equipment behind. Were there a lot of these available at one time? I am really surprised that more vehicles did not survive, as I would have thought that any operating vehicle at all (Especially trucks and Kubels) would have been a valuable resource. Do you know and can you tell what happened to all the German equipment left behind? Thanks!

Most left behind equipment was destroyed by the allies when they came to Norway. Artillery, airplaines, uboats, depoes etc. was destroyed. It went so far that the norwegian forces begged them to stop. We had much left but the amount of destroyed stuff was tremendeous.
The allied forces wanted the post war norwegian forces to buy their old stuff. Some where given as Marschal help.
