Falaise Jagdpanther Unit Marking

Hi all. I have these photos in my collection. They came in a photo album from a British soldier in Normandy. I think they are all of the same Jagdpanther, I am just wondering what the insignia on the front is. Cheers.

I know it's not the same but I can at least see a wing much like the Waffen SS 38th division's insignia.
Maybe it will help work out what other unit had a similar wing??

At first peek, I saw it more like a winged fable animal of some sort (chimera or winged lion etc), but it could very well be the winged helmet logo.

Thanks guys. My initial thoughts were that it was a dragon, I have looked through some of the references online though, but have not yet found a match. Am I right in thinking that there was only a small number of Jagdpanthers in Normandy? I think I read that most were initially deployed on the Eastern front?

only this company equipped this material (12 copies) on the front of Normandy.
the 27 of june 1944 ,the 2./ s.Pz.Jg.Abt. 654 is under commandament of gruppe weidinger (Panzer-Lehr Division) in the region of Mondraville-grainville-rauray

Could it have been marked as a kill by the unit that destroyed it? Either Wessex div or the Welch/Mons, though I think it is not the Welsh dragon, 43rd div seems more likely.

Hi Guys

I think the image is of a Griffin, which symbolizes great strength, which a Jagdpanther had. So it is probably a crews individual marking for their tank.

My thoughts only.
