Hi Guys, I thought this film footage was interesting to see, as these vehicles are rarely seen even in photographs. It shows the surrender of sPzJgAbt 512 to the US Army at Iserlohn in the Ruhr pocket on April 16th 1945.

It is also worth looking at other videos from the same user as he shows some good stuff.

    Cheers, Ade.

Adrian, if im not mistaken this is footage taken by American forces on the surrender of units trapped in the Ruhr pocket, including the 116th Pz Div 'Windhund'.

Great footage of these 70 ton monsters!

Only 88 of these were built!

    Yes, this is correct.

I thought the use of foliage as camo was interesing in this case. (I realise this was very common in Western Europe in '44/'45 due to Allied air superiority) but I wonder if in this case it is a deliberate attempt to disguise lack of a moving turret? Most of the branches etc are around the turret.

    Cheers, Ade.

Great link Ade , very much enjoyed seeing these beasts !!!

Especially as this was the unit of Ritterkreuztrager Albert Ernst who was a very famous Panzer destroyer , he won the RK on the Eastern Front in Jan 1944 whilst commanding a Nashorn Battery of s Panzerjager Abt 519 , this earned him the nickname of the Tiger of Vitebsk.

That's some find, it really brings it home how massive the JagdTigers were when you see them with all those troops sitting on them!

Thanks for the link Ade, thats one massive piece of kit I dont know if anyone else noticed, but at the side theres other footage of a Jagdtiger, its quite odd also as some of the tanks "wheels" which provide suspension and guid the tracks are missing from one side.
