I would also imagine the gas pressures produced by BP rather than the actual powder they used, which would be a faster burn, is considerably less, and that can only be good for the guns continued use.

I think your right ned plus the shell casing they pulled out was shiny silver not brass like i thought it would be though i may be wrong
