KV 2 Soviet Russian tanks, abandoned and destroyed

Article about: Here's a few pic's of KV-2's in use as 'Beute Panzers' or 'Trophy Tanks'. The one with the rocket launcher on the back was to be used in the aborted german invasion of Malta! Regards, Ned.

Here is an interesting picture from a SS Wiking photo album that I have. The reason being for all of you who have "Wenn Alle Bruder Schweigen" have a look at the picture of the same tank (wrongly captioned and dated as 1944 in the book) on page 525. This picture appears to have smoke coming out of the commanders hatch, so looks like it was taken a good few hours, or days, previous to the one in the book.

These tanks look like tractors )) really nice pictures anyway. thanks!
I don't know about that, if you want a tractorish Soviet tank, look no further than the NI Tanks,

Those actually were farm tractors under the skin! Basically, during the 1941 siege of Odessa, local factories started putting out improvised tanks with tractor chassis, boiler-plate armour and machine guns or light anti tank guns salvaged from damaged Soviet armoured vehicles. Seems a bit primitive, but better than having tankmen with nothing to drive into battle and infantry with no armour support. Plus they supposedly done a fairly good job of terrorising and harrassing the Romanian army attacking Odessa, who were short of anti tank weapons. Apparently the name NI stands for Na Ispug, "For fear", so that presumably was the point.
