Hello-it has to be remembered that everything was a state secret in the USSR-that being said the troops were well aware of the large amounts of weapons and equipment supplied by the Western allies-some 250,000 trucks were sent to the Russians by the US without which the Red Army would have been an almost entirely horse drawn outfit unable to conduct rapid armoured warfare. Most of the Western armour supplied was very inferior to the Russian tanks-the 37mm and 2 pounder guns fitted to the Stuarts, Valentines, Matildas, Lees etc were regarded as useful only for shooting sparrows-some Valentines were regunned with the 76.2mm gun from the T-34/KV1 which would make for a very cramped turret to say the least but then crew comfort was never a high priority for the Russians-one area where the Western stuff was superior to the home product!

Hello-the top picture isn't a half track-it's a White M3 scout car (note the wheels)-similar body as White were the developers of the slightly later halftrack.

I think the Jeep photo is a modern re-enactment pic. .50 cal mount and Jerrican mount over the footstep are not items seen on Soviet lend lease Jeeps. Also the drive looks a bit too over weight.

    Cheers, Ade.
