Nice buses Steve,its nice to see something different,perhaps it will stir some folks to restore some buses in military colours,i read Derby converted buses into A.F.S.tenders.
pic shown of a southdown, Tillings stevens of same type.
Also for possible interest to all London green line had 55 10T10 coaches converted into red cross clubmobiles serving airbases and ammo dumps

Yes Wrecker the last picture of a 10T10 is the same as our one that was an Ambulance at Hendon. The class were used for one or other purpose and were returned to service as the war ran down, all but one which ended up being sold to another operator much to LT's consternation no doubt! The ARC ones had a place for the servers to sleep as well as a doughnut maker amongst other things and spent a lot of their time on the airfields of the Eighth. Other uses were ARP and Home Guard stations, road blocks, or even dumped in field to stop enemy gliders landing.

As promised, first shot is our one at what is believed to be Hendon in c1940 having been converted to Ambulance duties, note the splinter protected windows and the white painted mudguards, restricted headlights etc for blackout precautions.

Second shot shows here in 1952 back in service with LT before.
