FYI a 6 cylinder engine causes stress on the chassis hey! bit too powerful.

To make it 'passable' as a military jeep, it will require quite a
bit of work, though it can be done. The rear bench seat
( not seen ) is incorrect as it was a removeable frame,
and it will need correct front seats. Of course, with
that engine, it will not sound like a Willys !
The whole front grille and bumper will need to be replaced,
as well as the windshield. Good idea though, to hide the
tailgate with a spare and Jerry can. As said, those
hotrod tires and rims need to go.
Some guys will mask CJ's or hide any 'flaws' with bags,
camo netting, etc.
Below is my own '46 CJ ( $6,000 invested ) which has
many structural and mechanical problems that
I don't have the time or money to fix
right now.........

There's so much wrong it's hard to know where to start... front bumper, winch cable roller, rear bumper, tailgate, tail lights all wrong; where are the blackout lights?; head lamps too big; not sure what those railings atop the bed rails are; rims are wrong; gauges incorrect and not properly located for an MB/GPW; fuel filler on the body is wrong; tires...this can go on for a long time. Using this Jeep in a WWII reenactment screams "FARB!!!"
Even using it for a French Resistance instead of a GI impression, it's still wrong. Besides, what "resistance" unit would have a US Jeep? (And how would they have acquired it? A jumbo-sized Lysander?) You might as well use an H3 Hummer. Neither existed back in WWII.
BTW, if you want to try and do it up as a military Jeep, it's easier to tart up the CJ2A as an M38 than as a n MB/GPW.
A guy in our 'Unoffical Jeep Club' has a CJ that is a rather
good conversion. The only really noticeable things are
the T-90 transmission hump, and the lack of
tool bin lids.
Depends on how much time and money you want to
put into it, but the jeep that opened the thread
has a lot going against it already.........

I have a 350 Corvette under my 1945 Jeep Willy and the cross member bar, welding, reconstruction we did under the body was extensive to put a short block power house in the Willy. It is a project. If you want a project get it. If you want something to tinker with and ball around in the outdoors with get it.
Bottom line there is always something breaking and going wrong so if you enjoy grease and beers with amigos buy it.

Jeep = Just Empty Every Pocket
I Think what he was looking for was just something that looked vaguely old and military-ish, is all. He wasn't trying for an exact reinactors vehicle.
