Hello, I spend some time wandering the desert during the winter and occasionally run into items left over from Patton's day. I leave them in place, take photos and GPS the site along with a few notes. Here are a couple of photos of recent finds. Anyone recognise these parts?

Thank you! The bump springs look to have been cut out with a cutting torch.

posibly,,, they are an intefearance fit on a large peg so mabe they have been heated to assist in removal ,and or cut the ones in your pic do look as though they are stressed beyond use and have been removed from a vehicle

Let's see if this picture comes through. It looks like it could be a chain-device for tread installation? Just my guess.. That would be a satisfying job for sure! I've been a fan of all things WW II since a child.

top right of the pic is a sherman track shoe
the chain believe it or not is a snow chain for a wheeled vehicle ,,, but they work just as well in sand ,,it looks as though some of it is missing
    probably why it was abandond
    cheers ian

Thanks again Ian. I see you are located in Wales, beautiful green country. I hitched through there in 1974. Are you active military, or private collector? Jud
