That gun of yours is not a fantasy piece Kris, just an exaggeration of a known design. Many model cannon are only based on known examples, and are not true representations. Only about three of my guns could be classed as accurate representations of the real thing.

Enjoyed looking at your model cannons Steve. Especially that nice deck gun.

First up is a large and very heavy bronze and wood model. The barrel is 11 1/2" long. The elevation screw works too!





A couple of small toy cannons with rubber wheels.



This is a large somewhat newer made all cast aluminum field cannon such as used in the Civil War.
The solid brass barrel on this one is 7" long.





More toy cannons.



The center toy cannon in the photo below is very old. The breech of the cannon can be cocked back and snaps into the little bracket mounted to the board. Then you could attach a string to the wire loop, pull the string and it would release the spring loaded breech which would then strike and fire a cap gun cap.



The last one is a cast iron firecracker cannon. The tail and breech fold back and a firecracker is inserted in the barrel leaving the fuse to stick up through a little notch on top. The kids had a lot of fun with this when they were young. The barrel is 5" long.
