'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
Here are my two cents - some info from the period documentation (original documents from my grandfather's archive - grandfather was a NCO in 31st Infantry Regiment, 10th Infantry Division, 1936-1939):
1. Książka rozjazdów baonu manewrowego 10 D.P. (Traffic / movement book of maneuvering battalion of 10 Inf.Div.)
and clear indication of name and surname of "woźnica".
2. Spis strzelców taborowych batalionu manewrowego w O.C. Barycz (Register of cart drivers of maneuvering battalion in training camp Barycz)
and quite different term - "taboryta" (but it could be used as general description of soldiers attached to horse drawn carriage)
Term "woźnica" is most suitable then.
