Help regarding Shako ....POLISH ????

just wondered if anyone can positively id this large early shako, I thought maybe Polish...not sure .

Hi Steve, definitely Polish. American made WW1 era. Here’s the only image I have ever found of this eagle mounted to headwear:

Many thanks Tony seems it was a good buy , thought it was Polish, and yes was found in the USA.
Is it a full dress item ?? Are they scarce ??

You’re most welcome Steve. Yes, the “scarce” category is appropriate. Definitely not common, and certainly not rare either. They crop up here and there every so often. Although several years ago one of these sold on DESA in Krakow for over 3000PLN, So evidently there were at least two motivated bidders that had to have what they thought was a bona-fide rarity. Sorry, I do not have any other information such as dress protocols and exactly where and by whom these were produced.
