This paragraph is called " As in 1863" (Polish 1863 Uprising).
General Sosnkowski was going to break through to Lwow.

"It is getting dark. There are reports that germans have taken the town (Brzuchowice), that strong german patrols are sneaking through the forest to where the rest of polish artillery is placed.
One more try. In the front oldest officers: General Sosnkowski, Gen Lukowski, colonels Prugar-Ketling, SZWARCENBERG-CZERNY, Wir-Konas, Mojawski, Demel, Wisniewski, rest of HQ, and then some soldiers. They are going forward.... They start taking enemy fire...
Col Prugar-Ketling tells General Sosnkowski to go and try to get through by himself to Lwow, Gen Sosnkowski tells him "If I had another 11th Karpatian Division I would get to Lwow. We shall fight as in 1863.."

And they are close to Dubno. They are standing in front of first lighted house, there are no more than 150 of them left. HQ is going inside: Gen Sosnkowski, Gen Lukowski, Col SZWARCENBERG-CZERNY, Col Wir-Konas and others.
Col Prugar-Ketling and others leave ,force marching, leaving Gen Sosnkowski and some others behind, and later get surrounded by a soviet cavalry regiment.
They are starting to talk with soviets who are telling them of course we will let You go, we are Your friends. General Lukowski and Colonel Wir-Konas get in a soviet vehicle to go to soviet headqurters to talk about surrender. Their bio below is from "Charkov- Ksiega Cmentarna"
Colonel Prugar-Ketling and Cpt deVille hide between soldiers and escape in to the forest.

You say the "Star" itself was found in Katyn ? If so where exactly, there were numerous grave sites.
