Polish Forces in Russia, WW1
Here's a Russian Dragoon saber (the same kind worn by the soldier in the photo in my preceding post), with the interesting addition of a Polish eagle. I never was able to determine if the eagle was added during WW1 or after WW1, but it was made of the exact same metal and was the same color as all the other metal pieces on the saber, which led me to conclude that it was the former. It is interesting, however, that it has an "L" on the shield, which was or course not characteristic of the Polish Forces in Russia, but rather, of Pilsudski's Legion in Austria. Any comments or information that could shed light on this anomaly would be appreciated.
