Hi Jurek, impressive collection, thanks for sharing. Of course, all of the collectors here also want to see how these look on the reverse .

Nice looking VM in there as well. I assume the recipient had a Lwow connection?

    Cheers,
    Tony

    Thank you, Tony.

Lets start with the Order Virtuti Militari (VM):
Cross VM #3168, recipient Jerzy Towarnicki podporucznik, received August 10, 1922 for Lwow Defense (Obrona Lwowa) ).

Next, badge from upper right corner - Headquarters of the Polish Army - East (Dowodztwo Wojska Polskiego "Wschod").
I have three versions. One chosen to LWOW gallery.

    More "backs" later.

    Best regards,
    Jurek

    Gentlmen,

A friend of mine is trying to confirm the authencity of this pre-1939 18PU badge by Gontarczyk. What are you opinions? Do you have examples to compare?

    All the best,

Hi again Miko. As you know, some of these other rank badges are difficult to distinguish from early post war copies. Complicating matters is that the badges were produced over several years. Being hand crafted meant that a badge made in 1927 by Gontarczyk factory worker Mr. Kowalczyk naturally differed from one made in 1933 by Mrs. Jablonski. (Note: fictional names )

Attached below is an example of a badge claimed to be genuine put up next to your friend’s badge. I've found that Gontarczyk did not typically use white metal “rivet” type fastening on multi-part badges, but rather brass wire cut using a small chisel tool. The overall look and patination of your friend's badge has the feel of a copy, at least to me. As always, I'm open to dissenting opinions.
