Hi,
Would this passport holder be the same Stanislaw Pilat, the boxer?
Stanis
Thanks,

Hi Neil,
I have looked on the internet for Stanislaw Pilat and found quite a few websites listing his achievements but they list his date of Birth has 13th April 1909, he died on the 10th May 1993. During his time in the ring he fought a 170 fights of which he won 143, drew 3 and lost 24.
It could be an error by the person who filled in the Passport, but I would not like to say at this moment, I will do more research to see what I can find.
Unless any of the other members on the Forum have anything that they can add.
Best wishes
Andrzejku
Hi Andrzejku,
Many thanks for the reply 8)
Hope to solve this riddle soon...
Rgrds,
Neil
Stanislaw Pilat the boxer wikipedia gives his birthplace as Nowy Targ, Poland ,also where he died? His birthdate is given as 13/4/ 1909.
Not sure how trustworthy that is, but Trawniki where the passport holder was born is near Lublin, during the war SS training camp (also they trained Ukrainian volunteers there). Nowy Targ is in south , mountains.
I see.
The dates and name are too close to be a coinsidence...seems that during the war he may have managed to be out of harms way, in London.
If we can locate a photo of the boxer, that would solve the riddle...
Hi Andrzejku,
Any luck on finding out more?
Thanks,
Neil
Hi Neil,
No unfortunately not, he seems to be an ellusive character, but I have just had a thought because he boxed in the 1936 Olympics for Poland you might try the Polish Olympic Committee or the Polish Boxing Federation, it might be worth a try.
Best wishes
Andrzejku
I don't think it's the boxer, their faces do not look alike.
Good idea, will send an email.
If we can locate the boxer's photo from the 1936 Olympic's, then the mystery will be solved...
