Does anyone know about a special Combined Ops Polish Commando badge made from English coin? It looks like this. Many thanks in advance for info.

I would say this is a "one off" homemade Sweetheart type item.
It is very nicely done.
Cheers, Ade.
I've been browsing the forum, looking if anyone posted something like this before, but haven't found anything Commando's yet.
I think that I heard that some of them were made from an English something-pound coin. Unfortunately I know anything more about it.
If you can tell me the size, I will be able to tell you what value of coin it was made from. Most likely a one or two shilling. (We did not have pound coins back then)
Cheers, Ade.
thnx Ade, I'll get the size when I get home.
I googled some shilling coins and you must be right, the ones before 1956 might fit.
do you know some of other examples of WWII badges made from coins? I would like to get more info if possible.
Making sweetheart badges from coins was a very popular practise during the war. Not actually legal though! My Great Uncle made my Dad a Spitfire badge from one. Now sadly long lost.
Cheers, Ade.
indeed, might be a sweetheart badge for a Commando's lady
thnx again, cheers!
Dear Ade,
the badge is about 29-30mm in diameter.
cheers,
