What kind of Helmet is this?

Article about: Shell seems to be a Ssh39 but the liner looks strange, not to mention the "decal". Looks Polish to me. Opinions much appreciated Shell Pics "Decal" remains Liner etc Rega

    Technically crowned eagle was legally abolished in 1955. In the early post-war period there were still crowned eagles but not that common. The government in exile added the cross to the crown.

    I agree that the liner does not look like the normal WZ50 setup. This one has two seams above the ears.

    Is that the painter did not know the history. Crowned eagle on a WZ50 (have you seen Meyle77 ) = Faked helmet

    LWP didn't use them for sure, but some wz.50 were refurbished in the post-1991 period with crowned eagle - you can find them in like new condition on Allegro.
    Crowned eagle hat badges were still in limited use in early post-war period.

    True, but only very early. The display of a crowned eagle on surviving pre-war badges mounted to headwear was abolished by 1946 - often with a set of side cutter pliers.
