Yes James, it is a unit of the Armia Krajowa during the Rising.

Sometimes a white eagle, symbol of Poland, was painted onto helmets along with (or not) white and red stripes. But there was no standard, even within the same units everything was pretty much makeshift from captured German uniforms, helmets, caps, weapons etc.

I wonder what happened to Pilecki's other personal affects that he must have left behind in Italy?

Some stuff maybe, but other things he took with him to Poland.
