That was her code name that she kept. She actually changed it Marina Woroniecka. In fact, one of my middle names is that, though I never use it. We thought Woroniecka was her real family name, till two years ago, when my sister made the big discovery. She claimed that her family was from royalty. But, now I wonder if all of this wasn't there to hide her identity, which could very well been Jewish. I asked my dad if he thought she was Jewish. He said no. I asked him why he thought that. He says intuition. I told him he needed cold hard facts!!!!!

Poland had more nobles than peasants...well almost

Many Poles are quite shocked to find out they might have Jewish connections. There are many stories of this being discovered in family histories especially today.

Just as Polish Jews sometimes chose to hide their origins for a whole plethora of reasons, some Poles also preferred not to acknowledge any Jewish origins due to social prejudices of the day that were even carried over into communist Poland.

However interest in Poland's Jewish heritage and Jewish contributions to Polish culture has really come to the fore in recent years.

But this is straying further off topic than ever so will not add further

So, I did a little night, and came across the Brazilian document that was posted. It seems that the port of entry was Rio de Janiero. He could have stayed there, though when I plugged in his name nothing came up. More than likely he went to the state of Parnia, where apparently many Poles immigrated, and even today, there is a strong Polish influence. Since he was a farmer, I am wondering if he got one of those land grants. It would be interesting to find out what happened to him, whether he remarried, had kids, when he died. How could I find this out?

Would the embassies and consulates have information on Polish immigrants from that long ago though? I think he may have gone to Curtiba, and I don 't know why. I will send them an email tonight, and see if they have info on him, or his survivors. I wonder. Thanks.

I very much doubt they would have any information themselves but they might be able to point you in the direction of veterans or Polish emigre social groups who might be able to help
