Dabi, thanks for the post. I hadn't previously seen "City of Ruin Warsaw in 1947". Fascinating images. And as always, very painful to see the remnants of a once beautiful city full of architectural treasures. The "Paris of the East" as some have called it.

Dabi, your posts are starting to look like pop up sales ads.

Although slightly off topic, forgot to mention that the second still in post #6 captures a classic CB-27 telephone, which to collectors in this field is the most desirable pre-war models used in Poland. No doubt these remained in service in 1944, although several newer models had been released since the ‘27. I recently picked up a functioning example, similar to this one:

Beautiful phone. The first time I see something like that!

General Berbecki after the war was a teacher at a technical school in Upper Silesia.
He wrote a memoir, "Diary of Lieutenant General / Pamiętniki generała broni" (Katowice 1959). He died in 1962 in Gliwice

Hi again Dabi,
Yes, I have the book, which unfortunately is available only in Polish. Hence a slow read for someone like me born and raised outside Poland where the language is not spoken regularly. But well worth making the effort along with all of the memoirs penned by these great military men of that bygone era.
