It looks as thought it is brown or beige that has had some sort of black colouring applied - boot polish perhaps

    Hello,
I don't feel the lanyard as being used by Polish...
These men were too perfectionist to use such a proceed...
I think not to make a mistake by writing it.

Hi James, thanks for the added photos of the badge. I've posted side by side badges to an original issue badge in near mint condition by the recognized official producer, Altenloh. Kirkwood was not a producer of these.

. . . I don't see the two small marks behind, just near the number. It is on all the other badges I know. Not on your badge. The name and the number are not on a 1945 list. Probably a late version ? Or a K&Son made ! ? ! Never seen before for me. But I like ! . . .
Yes, the hallmarks present on all genuine Altenloh badges are missing. Also the number font is incorrect. The crossed artillery guns were of brass and then gold plated. The guns on this one are plated white metal. I agree with Ze-Pole that the badge looks quite good with what appears to be honest patina and age. I do doubt however that it is a late production Altenloh as there are too many differences, and there is no evidence that a late run of badges was commissioned. I'm leaning toward this possibly being a privately made replacement for a lost badge.

    Regards,
    Tony
