Ok Gary I see what you mean, if everyuone has the access, noone can be blamed,

Like the fool who jumped in and spentr 17 quid on a repro badge, everyone gets their fingers burnt!!

Everyone seen the grey beret on ebay at the moment, only just popped up, shame there's no eagle.

Does anyone have a list of contractors who made Polish airborne grey berets during the war?

    Found this quoted on http://home.tiscali.nl/nijsten/berets.html:

    The Polish beret

The members of the 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade wore a Dove grey beret, it was worn in the Polish style. The beret was pulled towards the back of the head rather than the British style of over the right ear. Also to be noted , is that the Polish cap badge was centred on the forehead. Officers also wore rank insignia on the front.
The 1st pattern examples of the Polish Airborne beret (1941 - 1943) were more of an ash grey shade, and production numbers ranged to approximately 3,000 items. This pattern was of a one piece construction.
The 2nd pattern of the Polish Airborne beret were issued from 1943 -1947. These berets were manufactured by Gelfer of Glasgow and examples have been seen with 1946 production dates, confirming the fact of some early post war manufacture. This pattern was more of a Steel Grey colour, and was constructed as a three piece item. Production numbers for the 2nd pattern must range to about 10,000 items to cover the Brigades actual numbers when disbanded in May 1947.

Sorry if I've spammed the thread, will shift it if people want me to?

I think the Beret on Luc's website is purely for representation.
    http://home.tiscali.nl/nijsten/Pictu...ar/polish.html

The manufacturer of the 1st pattern beret has still yet to be determined.
I have only ever seen one in real life, and that one was badly moth eaten, and also at one point, had played host to a family of mice !

2nd pattern is Gelfers. (See attachment). 1943-1947

I always thought that the 2nd pattern beret was a one piece? Have seen conflicting information?

And I assume that the other model is a 4 piece rather than 3 as usually quoted? the 3 side bits and the top?

    Cheers guys

This is a post war British beret with a fake dated added.

Note the sweatband and makers details and code number.

    Cheers, Ade.
