Hello Everyone,
Another Recommendation, this time for the Military Cross to an Officer of 2nd Armoured Regiment.
Captain Władysław Jakubiec.
"On 2nd October 1944 at Weelde/Belgium MR 095158/ as a Squadron Commander during the attack on the Railways Station, when the advance of the Squadron and a Company of MOT Battalion was held up heavy enemy Anti-Tank, Mortar and Machine gun fire. He advanced alone in his tank in the face of enemy anti-tank fire destroying from an entirely open position an anti tank gun. His action inspired all the soldiers of the Squadron, who without further orders advanced straight into the enemy fire barrage. Due to the conspicuous bravery of Captain Jakubiec and the example set by him the Station was taken in a very short time, with small losses despite heavy enemy opposition".
Recommended by : Major General Rudnicki, GOC 1 Armoured Division.
Dated : 28th June 1945
Award : M.C.
Military Cross obverse.
Best wishes

"Colonel Ząbkowski has been commander AGPA during the whole time the 2 Polish Corps has been in action in Italy. He has handled hia Regiments with Skill and determined energy and by his untiring efforts has contributed in no small measure to the success of the 2nd Polish Corps, from the battle of Monte Cassino to the breaking of the Gothic Line. Hello Everyone,
Another Recommendation this time for the 1st Armoured Division, for the Distinguished Service Order.
Major Witold Berendt.
"On 8th August 1944 near Caen Normandy, during heavy aerial bombardment of tank road convoy, Major Berendt showed great courage and bravery in spite of constant bombardment and exploding ammunition risking his life at every moment. He gained control of the situation and helped to rescue several wounded men. During the whole Caen-Falaise Campaign he commanded the Regiment practically by himself, due to heavy losses in Regimental Head Quarters officers with very good results. Working without rest day and night he always found time to visit his batteries and troops on several occasions under enemy artillery and mortar fire and by his coolness and determination encouraged the men in critical moments. On River Maas/Holland when Regiment was used to perform Infantry Role, he always took part in Recce parties and helped to organise most forward outposts under enemy observation and fire".
Recommendation by Major General Rudnicki, GOC, 1 Armoured Division.
Dated : 28th June 1945
Award : D.S.O.
Distinguished Service Order in case of issue obverse.

Hello Everyone,
Another Recommendation this time for the Order of the British Empire awarded to a Lieutenant Colonel.
Lieutenant Colonel Kazimierz Kuś, 5WPAL
Recommendation States :
"During the fighting along the River Senio on the morning of the 10th April 1945 when due to contradictory reports, it was difficult to ascertain what the situation was in area Solarolo (Between Rivers Senio and Santerno). Lieutenant Colonel Kuś, personally went up in an Air OP and from a low height, in spite of enemy fire he observed the situation and also ascertained that tanks on the south east outskirts of Solarolo were our own. This information was of great value as it enabled an appreciation to be made of the situation and the cancellation of the arranged artillery concentration on that locality".
Recommended by : Lieutenant General Szyszko-Bohusz, Commanding 2 Polish Corps.
Approved by : Lieutenant General R. L. McCreery, GOC Eighth Army.
Dated : June 1945
Award : O.B.E. (Military Division).
O.B.E. (Military Division) in case of issue obverse.
Best wishes
Andrzej
