    received these today from the polish consul , thought would share with the group so now have recorded photos of KW and cross of merit issued hot off the press , so to speak, for future reference!!!,

    Is the Gold Cross of Merit a newly-issued medal or is this a replacement medal?

    hi,
    the kw is a replacement as i found his records in sikorsky institute with the recommendation and sent info to warsaw, dad did not qualify for sibir exile cross as he died before 2004 deadline so i believe the merit cross is a new presentation on his record and as an alternative,

    An interesting Cross of Valour from Gr. Techniczna
    Damage on the reverse indicates a broken dies.
    Probably it's one of the last KW stamped from this dies

    Hello David, yes, the first 3000 crosses supplied to the government for issue did not have the 1920 date. They are covered here in the parallel thread in the Polish pre-WW2 section:

    Ade73. This cross is postwar made by Pansiuk around 1970-90.
