I thought that you will be interest in some more information regarding Major Janusz Stypułkowski. I found interesting document titled "SAPER" about Polish Sappers:

help to identify Captain Salecki Jozefi

This is a set of articles about the service of sappers. In the article on page 366 titled "Prace użytkowe saperów 1928-1930" ("Utility works of Sappers 1928-1930") written by Captain Engineer R. Grabowiecki there is a description of the bridge construction over the Łań River in Gawrylczyce by soldiers of Lieutenant Janusz Stypułkowski (page 376). There is also a photo of this bridge during construction on page 372.

    Hello mittra,

This entry with a pen is very illegibly written unfortunately...

This is what I was able to read: "From the stay in the audience with the Holy Father in the Vatican .... 2nd September 1945".

So the photo was taken in Rome.

Underline entry: "Mjr. Proźwicki and me"

On the left on the photo is Major Michał Prozwicki vel Proźwicki, and a note with a blue pen below the line: down arrow below his surname "he is already dead".

Major Michał Prozwicki vel Proźwicki after his promotion to the rank of Major on 18th July 1945 he served as the Commander of the 10th Engineers Battalion until his death on 4th January 1946. After exhumation he was buried at the Polish War Cemetery in Loreto (place 5-A-6).

That is all I was able to read.

    Regards
    Konrad
