This for advice, Andrzej.
I'll post my reflections in June.
Rgds, Richard.
Hello Zenda,
Congratulations on a very nice addition to your collection, all that I can add is the following:
Franciszek Bandalewicz Born in 1901
Army Number (also found on his ID Tags): 1901-48-III
After the end of the war he came and settled in the UK, where he married Gwyneth M Austin in 1962 in Windsor, Berkshire, unfortunately he did not enjoy married life for long as he died the following year 1963 in Windsor, Berkshire.
His wife remarried in 1966 in Eton to a Frederick A Robus.
That is all that I could find out for you about Franciszek and his Family.
I hope that it is of some use and help to you
Best Wishes
Andrzej
Dear Andrzej,
Once more again many thanks ++++
Best wishes.
Zenda
Andrzejku,
Could you please help me identify the cross number 39144
Best regards,
Hello ProPatria,
With regards to your request for information on the Recipient of the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered: 39144 details are as follows:
Rank: Kapral (Corporal)
Surname: KOWALSKI
Christian Name: BOLESLAW
Date of Birth: 1908
Fathers Name: ANTONI
Army Number (also found on His ID Tags): 1908-128-III
Unit: 10 Baon Saperow Korpusu
Boleslaw lived in Stryj prior to the war and was arrested there on the 10th April 1940 by the Russians, there was no date listed when he joined the Anders Army just stating that he joined at Buzuluk.
He survived the war, I could only find 1 Boleslaw Kowalski born in 1908 who died in 1956 in Colchester in Essex, this could be him or it might not .
I will leave that for you to decide.
Best wishes
Andrzej
Andrzejku,
Many thanks for all the information on the recipient of the MCC.
Kind regards,
Andrzejku,
Anything on the cross 26786?
Best regards,
