    Rank : Podporucznik (2nd Lieutenant)

    Date of Birth : 1920

Army Number : (also found on His ID tags) : 1920-48-III

Unit : 8PAPLot (8th Heavy Anti Aircraft Artillery Regiment)

From the Regimental History I found that he served in the 1st Division, no further information was found in the Regimental History.

Smile Grandfathers MCC info please and anything else

    Hello andrzejku98;

My father passed recently and I found several medals his father was awarded in WWII. Also some pictures. I know very little about my grandfather. Doing some research I was able to find out that he passed away in Hammersmith, London, UK on June 6, 1963. His name was Henryk Pajkert. His MCC number was 17383. Any infomation would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Eric,

May I be the first to welcome you to the Forum, I hope you do not mind me rotating the photograph of your Grandfathers Monte Cassino Cross.

    Monte Cassino cross

I will start with the Name of your Great Grandfather, which was Józef.

When awarded the Monte Cassino Cross your Grandfathers details were as follows :

    Rank : Kapral (Corporal)

    Surname : Pajkert

    Christian Name : Henryk

    Date of Birth : 1907

Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1907-108-III

Unit : 15BS (15 Baon Strzelec), 15th Rifle Battalion, 5th Kresowa Infantry Division.

During the September 1939 Campaign, your Grandfather crossed the Lithuanian Border on the 19th September 1939 to be interned, 15th July 1940 he was listed as being at Kozielsk then sent on to Murmansk and eventually reached Tatiszczewo where he joined the Anders Army.

That is all the information that I was able to find so far, the best thing to do now Eric would be to contact the British Ministry of Defence to obtain a copy of his service record. They charge now days so be sure to ask for copies of all records that they have.

Best wishes and Welcome to the Forum

    Andrzej
