Many thanks for your post, at the time of the award of the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered 41848 the recipients details were as follows :

Rank : Kapral (Corporal)

Surname : Galeski

Christian Name : Franciszek

Date of Birth : 11th September 1893

Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1893-19-III

Unit : 161 Szpital Wojenny (161st Military Hospital)

After the end of the war he returned to Poland and died on the 7th April 1984 and was buried in the Cemetery at Kębłowo, photograph of the grave below.
