    Porucznik Stanisław Maksymiszyn Born 4th January 1918 in Krosno, Army Nr : 1918-63-III, Unit : 1PUK, MCC Nr : 29699, Killed in action 19th August 1944, Buried in the Polish War Cemetery at Loreto in Grave Nr : 11-B-14.

    Monte Cassino Cross Nr : 39660

    During the September 1939 Campaign he was either a Regular or Reservist captured by the soviets at Włodzimierz and joined the Anders Army at Tockoje on the 2nd September 1941.

    Many thanks for your post the recipient of the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered 39920 never left Italy, his details are as follows :

    Rank : Plutonowy (Lance Sergeant)

    Surname : Piotrowicz

    Christian Names : Władysław Baltazar

    Date of Birth : 6th January 1904

    Place of Birth : Warszawa

    Fathers Name : Jan

    Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1904-90-III

    Unit : 10 Kompania Mostowa.

    During the September 1939 Campaign he was either a Regular or Reservist captured by the soviets in Bursztyn on the 19th September 1939 and joined the Anders Army at Tockoje on the 2nd September 1941.

    Plut. Władysław Piotrowicz died on the 28th August 1945 and was buried in the Polish War Cemetery at Loreto in grave Nr : 2-B-13.

    That is all the information that I was able to find for you Michał.

    I know that I was asking about cross nr 29641 and got these info:

    Monte Cassino Cross Nr : 29641 at the time of award the recipients details were as follows :

    Rank : Kapral (Corporal)

    Surname : Zając

    Christian Name : Zygmunt

    Date of Birth : 1909

    Army Number : (also found on His ID Tags) : 1909-42-III

    Unit : P4Panc (4th Armoured Regiment)

    By the end of the war he had been awarded the BKZzM (Bronze Cross of Merit with Swords).

    Kpr. Zygmunt Zając, Fathers Name was Andrzej, Pre war Regular or Reservist captured on the 18th September 1939 at Złoczów, joined the Anders Army at Tatiszczewo on the 3rd September 1941.
    But maybe there is possibly to find a birth place or place or date of death? I dont know that He returned to Poland or not?
    I want to find familly of this solider and I cant start my research without any startpoint like city where he died or was born.

    maybe someone could help me? or show me the place where I need to start my research ?

    Hello Michał,

    With reference to your post asking for more information on Zygmunt Zając, I have found nothing for him listed on Ancestry.com etc. , I do know that Artur has a book listing all those Polish Soldiers awarded the Monte Cassino Cross that went back to Poland after the end of the war. Perhaps Artur might be able to answer your question.
