Unit : 3KBCKM (3rd Carpathian Heavy Machine Gun Battalion)

By the end of the war he had been promoted to St.Sierz.

Hello Tomek,

Congratulations on obtaining the Monte Cassino Cross and Legitymacja awarded to : Podporucznik Henryk Szklarek.

I have found the following information for you Tomek, Henryk was the son of Jan Szklarek born in 1912, Henryk was either a Regular or Reservist in the Army in 1939 he fought in the September 1939 Campaign and was captured by the soviets in Włodzimierzon the 22nd September 1939, he joined the Anders Army at Tockoje on the 2nd September 1941.

Whilst serving in the 2nd Corps in Italy his service number also found on His ID Tags was as follows : 1912-236-III, Unit 17 LBP, within the 17th Battalion he was in command of the 2nd Platoon of the 2nd Infantry Company which was commanded by Kapitan Jan Leśkiewicz. He fought with the Battalion during the Battle of Monte Cassino and up to December 1944. On the 13th December he was transferred to the 10 Wołyński Batalion Strzelców and given command of the 3rd Company (Kompania).
