To be honest, that is not a strong point for me. I know that when white Russians and former Russians returned back to the USSR before 1953 they where 'taken care of', this might have changed after Stalin's death. Jews where encouraged to leave Poland after the war, thus having great immigrations to Palestine and the new State of Israel around 1950, see this special travel document for going to Israel. I personally think that once managing to leave Europe during or before the war it was a mistake going back to the Communist controlled countries...but that is history, can not be changed or undone. I think someone else here would have a better understanding of the position of those returning to post-war Poland after 1945.
