Polish Forced Labour (Zwangsarbeiter/Fremdarbeiter) collection

Article about: by A.J. Zawadzki Hi Stefan, yes, very perceptive of you. Definitely the efforts of a left leaning group. You'll quickly spot the less-than-subtle hammer and scythe imagery on the cover: Atta

Thanks Mariusz, it is a very complete list of PoW camps. I can see it being a very useful link

Also posted this new photo on German militaria photos section as I am hoping someone can tell me if the German in uniform standing in the center of this group is wearing a German police uniform or military uniform? No caption on the reverse that would help.

I would say he is a member of the DAF.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks again Ade

For those that don't know, DAF is the abbreviation for Deutsche Arbeitsfront or The German Labour Front.

A complete file of DAF employee Siegmund Zylka of Katowittz. The Deutsche Arbeitsfront cog/gear wheel of industry symbol is embossed onto the red covered book. The file envelope and all documents are dated November 1944 and look as mint as the day they were issued.

Posted on behalf of new member "destiny" a rare original "OST" forced worker patch and Arbeitsbuch

A good reference piece with which to help authenticate others against.

Cloth patch is probably wrapped around a card substrate and is very similar to the one in the Imperial War Museum collection posted earlier in this thread.

    An excellent find

... and a very unusual adaptation of the "P" patch

The embroidered "P" was probably owned by a lady working at a sewing machine in some German factory. I think the owner wanted to make the patch less harsh visually and softened its appearance by the lace-like embroidery stitching and to psychologically soften the racially discriminatory intent of the badge when worn out in public. Another nice find, and many thanks for letting me share your collection on this thread

    Thinking caps on please

This group of female Polish workers celebrating Christmas 1943 in Hamburg are wearing what appears to be a star badge with number 5 (or letter"s") in the center of the star, see close-up from main photo. Any thoughts on what these badges might be? They are not 5 pointed Jewish stars.

Two newly acquired studio type portraits

    Polish Forced Labour (Zwangsarbeiter/Fremdarbeiter) collection

Inside view of unidentified Polish forced workers barrack with wooden bunks. Barrack interior photos are unusual to find and these two are a good illustration of the often spartan living conditions.
