    Hello Mateusz....

though old, and well executed, I am not confident that this is military.....

More likely a decoration from a veterans' club

Thats a good point GFC !
The thought had crossed my mind, as the seller has two more shields, , .. there is a very good chance these were for social decoration and trashed when one of the clubs shut up shop.

The seller has two others listed as well, and I’d agree with GFC that these are quite probably from a veteran’s hall. Nice items nonetheless – although priced rather steeply. It’ll be interesting to see if there are any takers.

Hi Guys, these all came from an Ministry of Defence sale via a ex-military vehicle dealer who has the contract for all MOD sales. He believes they came from a Mess Hall. They came onto the market some years ago now. The were much cheaper then too!

I have the British Airborne sign from this very large group in my collection.

    Cheers, Ade.

Nice item, but for that price I dont think no ones gonna buy it and I hope the seller doesnt mislead the buyer by telling him its original

    Thanks for That Ade....

As far as I know, the Brigade never used the light blue background....

That was in the COLE book on formation badges way back when.... which came 1st? The plaque (probably) or the reference in Cole?

    Cheers Again,

    GFC

Hi George, that is a very good point. I have never seen the Brigade sign other than on a black background either. I will see if I can find a print date for the book. It makes perfect sence that they had to be copied from somewhere as it is doubtful the artist would have known every formation sign he had to paint without looking them up somewhere.

When I bought mine I didn't recall seeing that particular one in the group, but there were a lot of signs, but I am sure I would have latched onto anything Polish Airborne They were all the same sheild pattern too as far as I can remember. The prices back then varied according to the subject matter. Average price for a British Inf Div sign was about £25. But the more exotic units, Commandos etc were more expensive. I paid about £45 for mine. Certainly the price being asked today is far too much in my opinion. They are a nice decoration peice but that is all.

    Cheers, Ade.
