Hello!
I totally agree with Gary! This eagle was used in papers of 1SBS. It was not a badge. Cadet veterans never confirmed information that it was a badge!
Gary can you show photo of your mother with this pin?
Best Regards

I also think Gary is correct. I remember when these were not too hard to find back in the early 1990's; no one at that point knew exactly what they were. I think a clue is also evident on the piece itself: the pin on the back looks a lot more like something that you'd find on a sweetheart or patriotic pin than on an official badge.
My mother with badge on lapel, when she was 21.
So the photo was taken after September 1944.

And a closer scan ..

Fantastic news!!
Gary,
I wonder why haven't you discovered this information earlier ?????????

Hello Rafal,
... Yes !! I must admit I was surprised myself.
My mother had always talked about the "badge" my father had given her, .. and I had assumed it was one of the parachutist metal "patki".
Then a few months ago, I was examining some family photo's, and realised that the badge was infact the "small eagle".
I then showed one of the badges to my mother, and she confirmed that this was the badge !!!
Regards
Gary
