Artur, could I ask you to check your list please?

The 3DSK list has Major Jan Orłowski as 1905-85-III with 7 Bn.

But the same list also shows por. Stanisław Orłowski as 1905-85-III which should not be possible. There is a mistake or a typo somewhere.

(Trying to help an Italian history society with this person.)

Hello TMZ,

With reference to Major Jan Orłowski, Born 14th July 1905, in 1932 he was a Podporucznik serving with 9PPLeg., when serving with 2nd Corps at Monte Cassino he was a Major, Army Number : 1905-85-III, serving with 1BSK, he was awarded the Monte Cassino Cross Numbered : 1669.

in researching 3DSK lists a little deeper I now see more examples of soldiers with the same number that should be different, so either there are mistakes in transposing (via OCR) from the original or a mistake gave the same number to two soldiers. Either is possible I suppose.

There are lots of duplicates where there is a small difference in spelling of the lastname where multiple sources must have been used as source material. A few examples:

PIETROWSKI Ludwik, 1903/1, st. sierż., 1. bn.
PIOTROWSKI Ludwik, 1903/1, st. sierż., 1. bn. KW

SZADKIEWICZ Franciszek, 1900/97 plut.; 3. bn. ckm.
SZKARADKIEWICZ Franciszek, 1900/97 sierż.; 3. bn. ckm. KW

DANASIEWICZ Bolesław, 1900/7 st. sierż.; 3. bryg. KW
DENASIEWICZ Bolesław, 1900/7 st. sierż.; d-two dyw.

Of course the originators of these lists did not have the power of a computer to help find these anomalies.

In my opinion, the sources contained literal errors. The diary could be written on the basis of chronicles and orders of daily units.
Płk.dypl.Piątkowski awarded VM class IV occurs on the state 5 KDP.
And in monograph of the 3 DSK on command-H.Q of the 2nd battalion of shooters-2 BS:
