Hello after a while away from the site...
The Tobruk badge no. 430 was awarded to sierżant (Sergeant) Kazimierz Fiedorowicz (service no. 5895) of the Sapper Unit (Oddział Saperów) of the Carpathian Brigade. Later he served with the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division in Italy (service no. 1911/81/III). At the time of the battle of Monte Cassino Sgt Fiedorowicz commanded the Workshop Platoon (pluton warsztatowy) within the Maintenance Company (kompania parkowa) of the 3rd Carpathian Sapper Battalion (3 Karpacki Batalion Saperów). His notice concerning his May 1944 appointment is mentioned in the 1991-published corrigendum to the first vol. of the 3rd Carpathian Div. history (Trzecia Dywizja Strzelców Karpackich 1942-1947) edited by Mieczysław Młotek , so I guess, he must have been living at least in 1978, at the time of the publication of the book, so he could find the mistake. In corrigendum he's called Sierż., so presumably he wasn't promoted, at least between 1944 and the time of writing his notice.
Regards,
Tom
