Hi There,
On my grandfathers service documents for his unit in France it states 1 D.A.L and for Scotland 2 D.A.L . Could anybody please tell me what these stand for and any info on them,
Cheers in advance,

Hello,
Here is the meaning:
DAL - Dywizjon Artylerii Lekkiej = Light Artillery Squadron (equivalent of Bn in artillery).
Do you have more details? Docs, pics?

Hi Rafal,
Thanks for your reply. Could you tell me if the 1 at the start of the 1 D.a.L refers to it being part of the 1st Grenadiers division?
I don't have any photos but i did send off to the British military in London to get his service records and i am slowly working through these as time allows but not being able to speak or read polish means that sometimes the handwriting of the time can be hard to work out,
Cheers,
Colin
Hello,
Excuse me long delay (Easter break!)
I don't know if the 1s DAL was a part of 1 Gren. Div.
You can post or sent to me scans of your docs in Polish and I can help you to translate it into English.
Greetings
Rafal
