Anyone know where to authenticate Kamikaze peices

Ah, those are fine The pieces are pretty small and very non-specific; I'd be surprised if anyone could recognize them as being from a Zero- usually such identification requires a piece with a very distinct rivet pattern or otherwise unique detail- then again you never know. Now you just have to find someone who knows Zeros in super detail. Since they're small, even if they can be proven to be from a Zero, I doubt they're worth much. It's still just an anecdote that they're from the Kamikaze attack on 11. April, 1945 without the documentation we mentioned...

also i just noticed in the bag with pieces was a 1942 franc but someone here once told me they didn't think Missouri ported in France but could be wrong. a 1944 coin that says five centavos Filipinas on one side and united states of America on the other side and also just found maybe a 2 inch long piece of this off witeish coral i'm guessing that is kind of tubular like a pencil

and there's only 1 of them skinny pieces not 2 like i thought its a raggedy piece anyways

i seen this one guys pieces with supposedly the Medal the Kami driver was wearing when hitting the USS Missouri but i would think if he got the Medal he would of gotten better pieces of the plane no?

The Franc coin could have come from anywhere. Silver Fillipinas coins are from
the Philipines, introduced after MacArthur's return. There are lots of reefs
in the Pacific region to pick up bits of coral.

Seems like you have a nice little bag of souvenirs with some history behind
them - regardless of the stories, which may indeed be true. The pieces
of wreckage look authentic to me.........

I definitely like the piece that has the writing on it concerning the "crashed Jap Zero". The writing looks to be old and period. Just Where the pieces came from on the crashed plane is probably impossible to tell at this point though, considering how small they are and heavily damaged. It doesn't really matter all that much, in any case-the exact placing. I did notice, however, the long piece beneath the dollar bill-the one with several holes in a line? Do I see the numbers "47" on it? Did the Japanese use pre-war imported parts in their planes, I wonder? Unfortunately, I have no clue other than to say that the 2 pieces look quite different from the pieces that have the writing on them. Very unusual! You've got a very neat little bundle of war souvenirs there-even a chunk of Pacific island coral! Very nice!

the little pieces with the medal aren't mine just the only pictures i could find of other pieces online. but when i go dig the letters out Grandma says he saved a bunch of newspapers the Missouri made even one that shows the wreckage and the dead body i guess.

she not sure what else he has buried back there. but she gave me these Japan bills and the 5 has some friends writing on it. one was his buddy Ralph from Brooklyn when i looked on crew list only 2 people with first name Ralph only 1 of then was F1C with my gramps whish i could find him he surely seen the pieces and also some guy lyda Payne there was 2 people with last name Payne on the ship his years but none of them have first name of lyda.

i looked at long skinny pieces has no numbers but i did notice that gramps etched into it the date it hit and piece of japan wing on it.

anyways i took some pictures of the bills and the side that's molted of the big piece that ripped off the end of a longer beam

i found a video of my grandfather being interviewed almost two years befor he died(2006). about the kamikaze attack by a niece or something to do a school report. i doubt he showed the pieces because of being pack rats they was buried in the back of the basement but i'm not sure if that area was cleaned before he dies or not but im sure she asked him to explain what they look like at the very least. i am going to make a copy on disc if not ima film it from tv to cam and put on youtube so anyone interested can see the video.

the kamikaze is just a small part of the convo but all about his time on the USS Missouri and when it seems like he dont have more to add it goes on cause he had 38 points and needed like 40 so he stayed on the ship longer and did escort i guess but he mentions the different places they stopped.

i'm going try to find a place that puts VHS onto disc and can get rid of background noise

it's not really that sentimental because was always packed away. we have other stuff of his like things he made and stuff.

so i rather see grandma get some money and go have fun cause she is almost 84 :P
