No, the most produced American aircraft - there is a wider world out there, the honour goes to the WW !! Il-2 series 'Sturmovik', brushing up on 38,000 which is nearlt twice that of the B-24.

And pedantically - the first few slides are from Davis-Monthan in Tucson in the 1946-7 time period. There were never B-29's at Kingman. Or B-32's or the B-19.

It is a nice slide show of someones album, similar views turn up quite a bit on aviation forums. Thanks for posting.

Kepp in mind, this was the peace dividend, people were eager to put the war behind them, these were worn out and obsolete in the dawn of the jet age - the B-47 was headed into service, More versatile and comfortable lightly used B-29's were plentiful for reserve and special duties, but more importantly the Aviation industry needed to sell new airplanes or face bankruptcy.

Maybe I was thinking most produced 4 engine aircraft, my mistake... or I was not thinking

As a kid, I lived in Arizona 1966-67. I remember driving
through Davis-Monthan AFB. I was absolutely thrilled
being able to see some of the planes that I had been
building models of.

John,
We lived just a couple miles from MAS-Yuma. They flew
F-4s in and out of there everyday,many many times a day.
This was back when they could go super sonic above populated areas.
It was not unusual at all to have to pick stuff up that had fallen off
the walls or shelves after being "boomed"

Just think if we would have had those during WWII. Just going super sonic would have scared the hell out of the Axis.. I was talking to an F-4 pilot one day and he said it was like being straped to a rocket with those twin J-79 engines. Only problem was they liked fuel and when they ran out the jet would drop like a rock.

We got to the point where we could tell the type of
plane just from the engine noise. One night, we head
a group of jets fly in and one was completely different
from anything we had heard before. The next day, I
remember all of the neighbors commenting on it and
wondering what it was.

We found out that they flew in one of the first F111s.
It was at the MAS for hot weather testing. We drove
past the base and it saw it sitting out off one of the runways
with 4 armed Marines standing around it. Cool looking plane
I really felt sorry for the guys having to stand guard out in
the 100º + heat.

Somewhere I've got a picture of this that I can't seem to
find. When I do, I will post it. I will have to see if my sister
ended up getting any of my mom's old super 8 movies. We
had a lot of film of the F4s and F111 taking off and landing.
