I would agree. Legitimate costumier and prop studio stamps are as much part of the item's history as the RZM markings.

They are not always legitimate however, this one fooled me when I first started collecting. Luckily, I didn't risk too much money on it, a hundred pounds or so.

Is the Hersteller Nr. 05 or 65?

If its O5 it could be made by Adolf Ernst, Hannover.

Nice cap by the way. I really like it and if you want to pass i'm interested. All the stamps make the cap very interesting.

Regarding the Hersteller Nr, my friend says it's 105.

The insignia most likely worn on your cap are as pictured here. They have the neusilber finish.

The truth is painful, but you can share your pain with me. The worst thing is having to deal with persons who only collect such insignia and render it a fetish above all others, whereby the whole approach to same is absurd.

The badges are costly, but I think they have fallen in price.

I am in search of insignia, myself, and never with much luck.

I personally prefer the earlier caps, and their insignia.

Your cap has the post 1937 RZM tag, whereby more or less, the norm are the 1938 badges, but there were exceptions, of course.
