The anatomy of the Schirmmutze

Article about: Ben is a wonderful collector scholar, as we all know. I have a very serious adult job, which consumes a lot of my time, and I cannot translate all of this. I will leave the burden to others,

As regards to the steel spring in the front of the Schirmmutze, how were three prong eagles attached, were they slightly offset, was there a hole in the steel for the lower prong or were 3 prongers only used on crushers?...

The eaten up Willy Sprengpfeil sidecap was something to see and should make fondlers of everyone....as they should be, if you're a savvy cap collector. Fine thread here and compliments to its contributors.

I'll take some photos for you soon Gunny but what I mean is that come caps had a proper "spring" instead and not just a solid piece of steel.
    Sounds good, thanks very much!....

Happy to do so but what a shame such a cap was cut up!

Does this help anyone? click on it and it should enlarge enough to read.
Thank you Ben! I had hoped for something just like this, a true anatomical chart. Thank you for the effort and kindness.
