Black Panzer Cap

Hi everybody,
I have a few caps in my possession, and I would like to know if they are correct in your opinion. Here is one that I brought over from Germany in the 1970s when I was based in Celle (Germany), it is a black Panzer schifchen with no grommets, it has a discoloration when the sides are down, the inside material is a kind of blue but has some wear marks (hair grease ?), it has a faded pink soutache. The cap is dated (1940) and head size (55) to one side and marked to the other.

I would say Fake , no vents , poor material etc.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

It is indeed a copy. Looks like one by by Michael Janke.

Points to note:

Lack of air vent grommets.
Eagle. Not a known original pattern.
Cockade. Likewise.
Maker mark (A known Janke one)

Thank you for your opinion guys.
No grommets is not that unusual, Snyder treasures has one without.
Only one thing is puzzling me, when I was based in Celle many moons ago (spend there 7 years for my sins lol) I was a regular guest at the Alte Kammeraden Stube, and one day one of the old guys gave me that cap, you think he set me up with it ?? I know they did terrible things in the war but to give me a fake .... lol.

A word to the wise, avoid that website like the plague. Very little there is original.

Thank you again, I never bought anything of him.
In the years to follow after Germany I bought items here in the UK out of clearances etc WWI and WWII, and I kept a few things what I liked but now I'm getting a wee bit older I was thinking to sell a few off as I don't really collect them but wanted to make sure they are ok. I will post a few other items soon and I will be interested in your opinions.
