    Otto dittman made caps right through the Imperial, Weimar and TR era's and by looking at this one in the post war years as well.

    Sorry to say I think it's post 1945, not sure for what though, maybe civil like fire fighters but it's got the oilskin sweat band so must be 1950/1960's maybe.................. see what the others think.

    Could it be that this is a peaked cap that has had its visor removed to turn it into something looking like an Imperial-era Krätzchen (so as to increase its price)?

    I agree with the above--postwar DDR Feuerwehr cap with the visor removed.
