Krad--it is a an older repro that has been artificially aged.

Wow- I wouldn't have guessed that it was a fake...fairly convincing overall and the aging is done rather well in my opinion...Thanks go to Stonemint for so generously sharing the fruits of his research...

Glenn for me it looked like it had a chance even has moth damage to the top ,just goes to show how good the fakes have become
Is the underside of the peak pebbled, rather than crosshatched? If so, that's a definite clue it's bad.

These are mainly prewar. Every original one I have owned or seen were unit marked on the reverse of the sweatband.
