Re: Infantry 'Crusher' Cap
Thanks for all your replies so fair, gentlemen! I appreciate it a lot as cloth-headgear is a new area of study for me.
I've just recieved a comment on another forum, from someone who thinks that the cap has been put together after the war from other caps. I find this strange as it was part of a grouping/attic find and when the previous owner posted it for review, it was met with positive comments.
If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks for your time
Best wishes,
Josh

Re: Infantry 'Crusher' Cap
Whoever said it was made from parts after the war is talking complete rubbish.
The insect damage is a shame but people forget that these things are older than most of the people that collect them!
Expecting all cloth items to still be in mint condition is ridiculous and shows a total lack of understanding of what this hobby is all about.
For example, I'm selling a few things at the moment including a combat veteran M43 cap. I decided on a price that I want yet people are trying to haggle with me because it has some holes in the fabric. It honestly drives me nuts that certain collectors think they can buy uniform items that were worn in the field and with direct provenience and are still in mint condition!!

Re: Infantry 'Crusher' Cap
Thanks for weighing in, Ben. It's a relief that a few people have given their confidence to this cap.
I've always liked the cap and have been confident about it and I can't wait to get this one in hand to study it more.
Ben, I hope you have some better luck with your M43 cap, it sounds really nice! Thanks for your opinion on this one

Re: Infantry 'Crusher' Cap
Most collectors want mint condition items but it's just an unrealistic dream IMO because the most important and historical items are usually not in very good condition , let alone mint.
