Hi.
I need some opinions about this Kriegsmarine overseas cap:
Is it all insignia factory applied?
(The eagle swastika looks really strange stitched.)
Danke advance.

I like the Schiffchen, but the eagle's stitching is improperly done...I look forward to other opinions...

Are these photo's linked via a hosting sight? I can't see them (this happens on my Office computer that somehow blocks these pictures).
If so, anyway you could upload the pictures.

Hello Schlange,
don't know anything about (Marine)Schiffchen, but you are right: whereas the cockade was applied with a sewing-machine the eagle was sewed on by hand. This does not mean that the Schiffchen is a fake as after the war anything with a swastika was/had to be removed so that just the eagle might be a replacement. But be patient, there are specialists for Schiffchen, let's wait for their opinion.

I concur with my colleagues that this is a period original schiffen with a post war replaced eagle. You will be better served to find an untouched example.

Obviously a denazified cap that has been clumsily restored. A good cap, but would not be for me.

I must admit that I am confused:

It depends on whose opinion you want to listen to. I had a cap by the same maker and the eagle was machine applied. In cases like this, it is dangerous to try and convince yourself of an item's originality. Here you have received the opinion of known seasoned collectors. I have no idea who the WAF "experts" are or what there experience level is.
