Luftwaffe late war??? Year?

Hi, so I picked up a couple of Luftwaffe items from a local picker in Germany...including papers, flight maps, photos, e.t.c..
Most significant though is this German Luftwaffe (officer's?) visor that also made it's way into the collection. I'm fairly sure it's authentic...yet I cannot find a date of production...possibly a later war produced visor . I'm not going to remove the eagle but I did find the mark FLL on it...which I believe to be authentic.
Any input on year of production & who would have worn this visor (rank) would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance

Hi ajk99US,

as always I can only speak about the cap itself as I am no specialist for insignia. Looking at the interior makes me quite sure this is post 1945: the back of the visor is green but lacks the typical cross hatch. The edging of the visor looks like plastic (check out on this), not like the oilcloth on originals. What convinces me most that this is a post war article is the white material visible in the tear of the lining of the top panel - there should be cheesecloth, this is some modern material, I guess non-woven fabric reinforcement. The lining itself doesn't convince me either.
Another thing: why doesn't the cap cord fit the cap? Somewhere in this forum I read that there even were different lengths of cap cords to fit the different cap sizes, so why should a cap be sold with a cord far too short for the cap?

Looking forward to reading the specialist's opinion, they will contradict me if you're lucky.

I am aware of the cross hatch, yet that typical cross hatch pattern was on most pre 1944 visor caps that were produced out of Vulkanfiber with a leather or leatherette finish...yet there were also ersatz lacquered cardboard visors (most often seen in late war visors) that didn't have the typical cross hatch pattern on the reverse green side of the visor...

Just wanted to compare..these are known original late war visors comparable to mine...moreover the edge of the visor is indeed the proper oil cloth material...not plastic...

I hope for you that I'm wrong. The only late-war LW caps I know have visors with a green cross hatched underneath without edging, black or brownish underneath (the one I posses with a visor made of pressed paper). But everything is possible.

Indeed...for my sake I hope it's authentic...I know where you're coming from...I'm aware of the examples you're talking about...just as an update...I found out that the cap insignia is an original 2nd late war type eagle produced by FLL...since the eagle cannot be removed from the cap I assume it's all period...yet I'll leave it to the experts...thank you for your input
